Generating lesson plans with AI

Pick a framework, set your objectives, generate, then review section-by-section.

The flow

  1. Choose a class and a unit plan.
  2. Pick a framework — 5E, Madeline Hunter, Workshop, PBL, or UbD.
  3. Set 1-3 objectives.
  4. Generate. The AI returns each framework section (Engage / Explore / Explain / Elaborate / Evaluate, or equivalent).

How long it takes

Most models answer in a few seconds. A reasoning model such as Kimi K3 can think for a minute or two — leave the page open until the finished lesson opens. Generating a whole unit runs week by week and keeps counting your lesson numbers on from the sequence you already have.

Editing

Edit any section in place from the lesson page — your text is kept exactly as you wrote it. Regenerate re-runs the whole lesson with the same unit, framework and timing: an unapproved draft is replaced, while a lesson you've already approved or taught is kept alongside the new one so its history and reflections survive.

Tips for better drafts

  • Be specific in objectives. “SWBAT explain Newton's third law using two real-world examples” produces better activities than “Cover Newton's third law.”
  • Cite a recent reflection. If pacing was off last time, mention it — the AI will pad or trim.
